faq : Ensim Unix : error when I use a email client to send mail |
  |
|
| Question: | Why do I get an error when I use a email client to send mail? | | Answer: | SMTP servers on all of our servers are CLOSED RELAYING SERVERS. What does this mean? Unless you have a mail account on our servers, you will be unable to use the SMTP servers. AND, for each mail account that you have setup inside of a mail client such as Outlook Express, you will need to configure that client to have "Outgoing Mail Server Authorization" required.
For those of you using Outlook Express, go to TOOLS, Accounts, then PROPERTIES for each account (on our servers), and you will find this configuration option at the bottom of your SERVERS tab.
Other mail programs such as Eudora, etc. will have different instructions for setting this, but they all have an option for "Outgoing Mail Server Authorization", just check your manual.
Webmail should not be affected.
This is a security feature that has been implemented by us on all Servers. Sorry about the inconvenience, but we cannot take the risk of having our servers damaged due to SPAM and we are only protecting your interest as well as ours. Please inform your mail users of this. email setting | | last updated 20.08.2002 | |
